Name: King Uther Pendragon
Alias:
Rank: High King of All Britain
Age: 35
Apparent Age: 35
Race: Human
Appearance:
6ft Tall and muscular, Uther Pendragon is ever clad in shining armor, with his sword and shield at his side in times of peace, and in his hands in times of battle. He has short black hair which frizzes just above his ears into curls, bushy eyebrows and a curly beard cut into a medium-length goatee. His face is square with a strong Roman nose and a jutting forehead which serves to further pronounce his eyebrows. His eyes are green and expressive sometimes burning with passion, other times twinkling with delight.
Personality:
Uther refers to himself on occasion as "The Pendragon" indicating that he is the head of the family, Uther acts the part. He is loud, brash arrogant and lusty. With all of that he can still be charming, and even chivalrous in his own way. He still holds to codes of honor that he learned in Rome but also has adopted the some of the British warrior codes as well. He has shown great courtesy to the company by not exercising his authority as King to take over the company but instead allows them to continue as they might, and even assists them as he can, with the understanding that he and his brother will seek a way back to their home at the first convenient opportunity. In battle, Uther instinctually takes a command role, but also places himself as close to the front lines as he can manage. When engaged in combat he shouts a great deal, issuing challenges, making bold threats, and exuding general battle cries that his enemies may know exactly who they are fighting.
While Uther has yet to show abject fear from any stimulus, extreme emotion seems to provoke in him a berzerker frenzy of violence which can be extremely difficult to contain.
Known History:
An inhabitant of the Continent of Legends, he grew up, lived, and fought in the lands that he believed to be Rome, and then Brittany. Uther Pendragon was originally a citizen of the Roman Empire. Serving as a Captain in the cavalry in one of it's "Legions" he was deployed to the Islands of Britain. There he fell in love with the native culture and decided to stay along after the departure of the Romans. Eventually he was made High King of those lands and fought against many "barbarian invaders" including the "Saxons", the "Anglos", and the "Vikings". He has had many strange adventures in the lands of Britain, including but not limited to encounters with strange creatures, mysterious women and knights in the woods, and strange diseases and ailments of his people.
It was during one such foray against the Saxons that he and his brother Arthur found themselves in a strange mist. Upon emerging from the mist they were not no longer in the pitched battle on the grassy plain that they expected but in a snow-covered field. Neither was aware that they were, at the time, in a deep slumber. The lands they discovered were those of the Overseer.
It is unknown how they came into the service of the "Overseer". However, it was apparent when the Overseer was defeated that the brothers' minds had been controlled. After some tense encounters, most notably one incident that threatened to degenerate into a pitched battle with Elias, Uther and Arthur were eventually convinced to join the Company as they exited the Snowy Realm.
They travelled with the Company, becoming staunch allies and were instrument in assisting the Plan to close the gates. Uther and Arthur, being the only two from the Continent of Legends, could return there and be responsible for closing the gate of Legends. This way, they could return home, and the fact that none returned from the Third Continent would not bother them. Thus it was that Uther returned to his native soils.
He was thrust into the goings-on of his lands and easily took up the role of High King again. However, when he got his bearings, he realized that the lands he knew were in a time previous to when he left them. Therefore, he was forced to begin reestablishing the Pendragon's hold upon the savages. Leaving orders with his subordinates and those knights loyal to him, he rounded up as many of his army as were willing to follow him. They set off in search of the Legendary Gate. Their only directions were the fact it was on a landmass situated in such a way that the bay faced west.
Through many perils they fought, and waded. Sometimes their hearts were filled with joy - as when they encountered Locksley and his men who agreed to aid them, or cross paths with the beautiful and capable Winderamere - however some tales ended in sorrow. Arthur was lost along the way, his tale drifted into legend and history when he decided to stay with a woman who stole his heart. Despite being rumored that she was a vampire, he cared not. So, Arthur was lost and Uther swore to name his son after his brother.
Finally, they arrived at the Gate and thereupon met up with the Red Dragon. Using the mighty scalla as their standard and moral support, Uther and his armies forged ahead into a mighty battle with the shadows that threatened to over-whelm the land....
He was last seen rushing into the great column, shouting commands and encouragement to his army...
Family:
Siblings - Sir Arthur Pendragon is the younger brother of King Uther.
Wife - It is not hard to get Uther to speak of his wife. The bautiful Queen Igraine. And with some more prodding he may mention his two step-daughters, Morgaine and Morgause. He has also mentioned that he has a son, also named Arthur.
Other Information:
Family motto: Nosce teipsum. Translation: Know thyself.
His crest is that of The Red Dragon, in a side-facing posture with the head, wings, and claws of an eagle.
Uther said his son was spirited away by a wizard named Merlin, due to a pact he had made with Uther, to a location unknown for some unknown purpose, though Hammond has suggested it was to raise the boy as his own. Hammond appears to know much about King Uther's history but has yet to reveal his sources to the rest of the group.
