Answer:
Depends on the currency.
Question:
Is there a chart, or is it just something you guys have in your heads?
Be a good thing to add to the Encyclopedia?
Answer:
Usually just decide as someone asks about it. No real chart ... yet... It would be really complicated since there are so many worlds to decide etc.
That's the thing, what exchange rates should I use? The RIT uses credits for their payment system. Just saying "A sandwich costs two credits" isn't much of a help with the exchange rate.
If a regular burger costs two dollars, then I can only assume one credit is something like one dollar. What would a terran dollar go for on RIT?
Well, on Earth, a sandwich costs around $4.00 and up ( for a good one I mean ) and then you can figure exchange rates for gold, silver, copper, etc by that.
I can't do that with so many different types of currency floating around. You're asking me to create a currency system for each planet and then figure out how much each of the <currency unit> is in equivalent to the credits. One US dollar is so rare that the credit rate is ridiculously high.
Question:
Whats the most common currency outside of credits?
Answer:
Debar is based on credits. So, in the area that Riku would be in, credits is the only real option. If you're talking about a different Solar System or a different planet then it would be different. The galaxy doesn't have a lot of universal stuff at the moment. It doesn't have a centralized anything so there's really nothing that is the 'most' anywhere.
Ah. Okay, so that is definitely something that would take months to figure out.
Figuring out exchange rates is simple enough once you have all the currencies lined up. But lining up said currencies is the big thing right now, and if we are talking at least one different currency for each planet, that is still thousands of different currencies.
